Our Values and Motives are the Best
I suspect the reason for this is because we naturally assume that our values and motives are the best, and that anyone else doing things different from us must have something wrong with them. Thus the thinking process goes:
“This person thinks differently than I do.”
“However, I know my thinking is correct.”
“Therefore, this person must have some flaw or negative reason for it.”
Assigns uncharitable motive
